With its spectacular scenery, unspoiled nature, friendly people, and cultural diversity, Turkey’s Black Sea coast appeals to everyone. Explore the region’s soaring mountains rising to almost 4000 meters, and discover the greenest coastline in Turkey. You will visit appealing and unspoilt villages, taste regional food, meet with locals, and enjoy an endless landscape of lush green mountains reaching right into the green sea.

Day 1: Istanbul – Trabzon

Early pick up from your hotel in Istanbul and transfer to the airport by private car and driver. Take a direct flight from Istanbul to Trabzon that is about 1 hour. Upon arrival, meet with your guide and driver. First stop is the magnificent Sumela Monastery, perched on high cliffs and accessible by staircases cut into the rock formations.

It was created to serve monks and nuns following the teachings of the Greek Orthodox Church without any disturbance. Then visit Altindere National Park and driven up to Zigana Mountain to enjoy the spectacular views of villages on the Pontiac Mountains. Finally visit Karaca Cave before being driven to Trabzon to stay overnight.

Day 2: Sumela Monastery – Uzungol

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Get ready to explore the highlights of the city including a visit to the 13th century Church of Hagia Sophia and Ataturk’s Mansion, Trabzon Castle and Sera Lake. Enjoy lunch at a seaside restaurant serving famous Akcaabat meatballs. In the afternoon, we will drive a short distance to Uzungol that is a hidden paradise in the Pontic Alps. Hike around the lake and village surrounded by lush green forests. Tonight you will enjoy your stay in a bungalow type wooden hotel where you will be served local dish for dinner.

Day 3: Rize – Camlihemsin

After a short drive, you will reach Rize and visit the Botany Garden to see kiwi and tea plantations, then you will be driven to Ayder Plateau via the Firtina Valley. Also take a short visit to Camlihemsin and Goksu Fall before enjoy a romantic sunset over the valley.

Day 4: Trabzon

Free time is given to enjoy breath-taking views, taste local food, and meet traditionally dressed villagers. In the afternoon drive to the Turkish – Georgian border to view Georgia from Sarpi Gate, then take an enjoyable drive back to Trabzon along the Black Sea coast. Take a direct flight to Istanbul. The flight duration is around 1 hour. Arrive in Istanbul airport and the end of the itinerary. Alternatively, book accomodation and city tours to explore former Constantinople.
