HOSPITAL and MEDICAL TREATMENT in ISTANBUL |
Healthcare in Istanbul is either public or private
However, in both cases it meets high standards, so as travellers you have nothing to worry about! Private hospitals in Istanbul are excellent, and hospitalization is often cheaper than in Europe and the USA…
Hospitals generally stick to their appointment times, so it is rare that one needs to wait very long to see a doctor, even in the emergency room. Many doctors can speak very good English!
Private Hospitals
-Some of the most famous ones-
American Hospital
International Hospital
German Hospital
Acibadem Memorial
Florence Nightingale Hospital
Public Hospitals
In Istanbul there are polikliniks, which are Tuskish public hospitals. Expect long queues and basic facilities. Tourists have to pay in order to get examined. If you get involved in an emergency situation, the ambulance, most likely will take you to the Taksim İlk Yardım Hastanesi (Taksim First Aid Hospital which is located across the German Hospital)
Pharmacy Hours
In Istanbul, pharmacies are indicated by a white, square sign with the letter “E”. Most Eczane (pharmacy) are open between 10am and 7pm, Monday through Saturday. In addition, every neighborhood has at least one on-call pharmacy (nöbetci eczane), which you can visit in case of emergency. They are available between 7pm and 10 am
